Prerana Educational Centre, [PEC] an integral part of the North Bengal Council for the Disabled is dedicated to the development of visually impaired persons aimed at facilitating their abilities to join mainstream life activities.
Summarized activities for the quarter ended 31st. December, 2023
At a State level Musical Programme, Ms. Shikha Roy, a student of PEC stood first, a commendable feat.
The programme. “Reading without Seeing” was conducted with 87 participants. They were introduced to technological aids some of which were Kebo Scanner, Talking Calculator, Sonic Labeler Pens and tactile books.
A printing workshop was held at PEC. Students were familiarized with braille printing for visually impaired students.
Drama and Pottery classes were held at the Centre with abundant participation.
Entertainment-cum-Recreational activities such as Chess for the visually impaired were held.
A STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics] programme was held at Bangalore which was attended by teachers from PEC to facilitate them imparting these subjects to students at PEC.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was held at Siliguri, with the aim of raising awareness, promote understanding and celebrating diverse abilities of students with disabilities.
The 4th. Batch of computer training commenced at PEC.
The Annual Event of PEC “MUSKAN” was presided over by Brig. Aditya Sahai at Brigade Parade Ground, Siliguri.
